ACC gets new TV deal with ESPN

John Swofford finally did something right and bundled the football and basketball rights together, making a deal with ESPN that goes for $1.86 billion over 12 years....allowing ESPN to cover both football and basketball games

how big of a deal is this for the ACC?

it is $90 million more per year than their current deal
the per school revenue each year from the deal jumps up $7 million
but probably most importantly, at $155 million per year, it is $5 million more than the deal ESPN made with the SEC

this makes it much much harder for another conference to poach a member of the ACC during realignment

gone are the Sunday Night ACC Hoops on FOX, but the deal allows Raycom to lease the rights to games from ESPN, which will make the ACC the most televised conference in basketball

Has it been agreed upon by the ACC schools for it to be divided evenly? That was one of the stunning things to me about the Big 12.

yes it has...all member schools get an equal share of the pie...I think during the workings of the BIG 12's policy, they got the others schools to agree by saying they were putting together a Big 12 Network and the balance of who got more money from that would be to the schools at the bottom of the league...but either they took that provision out or the plans just didn't come together...but for whatever reason Texas and OU dominate the cash in that conference
